Former Toquerville Mayor Indicted

Keen Ellsworth, former Toquerville Mayor and current Business Manager for the Hurricane Valley Fire District, has been indicted by a Washington County Grand Jury. Ellsworth, 57, was indicted with co defendant Brian Sewell, 52, also of Washington County. The two men are charged with Conspiracy to Conduct an Unlicensed Money Transmitting Business in which Ellsworth and Sewell transferred at least 2.5 million dollars in a scheme where cash was turned into crypto currency.

Co-defendant Sewell is charged with additional offenses to include wire fraud, false statements given to aid in procuring a loan, money laundering, and false statements given to defraud investors.

Sewell has been arrested and appeared in court on Monday, June 17. Ellsworth is scheduled to appear in court on June 24.
